What makes the Daily 9x9 different?

The most notable difference with Crosswordle 9x9 is that it has a bigger puzzle grid. This isn't just a larger grid—it means more and longer words, a higher rate of intersections appearing, the general difficulty of the puzzle spiking up and a slightly longer solve time.

Game mechanics

Just like the classic daily 7x7 Crosswordle, you still swap letters around to form the right words. Moving letters around gives you color cues to follow, which are:

🟩 Green - the letter is correct and in the right spot. It can no longer be moved.

🟨 Yellow - the letter is in the correct row or column, but in the wrong position. You need to swap it around.

⬛ Gray - the letter is in the wrong row or column, and is in the wrong word. You'll need to move it somewhere else.

Each daily puzzle provides you with a limited number of swaps, so be strategic in your swaps to win. Regardless of how many letters or words are in the puzzle, Crosswordle will always have a perfect score of six stars per puzzle.

Win/lose conditions

In Crosswordle, you win by getting all the words right/getting all the tiles to turn green without exhausting your swap stock. There is no time limit, so you can take your time and strategize properly.

You lose if you run out of swaps before solving all the rows and columns.

Available game modes

Currently, we have two game modes available for both the classic 7x7 and the 9x9 Crosswordle puzzles:

Daily 9x9 Mode: A puzzle mode that resets every 24 hours, regardless of where you are in the world. These daily puzzles allow only one continuous try, and the score here counts towards your streak (if you have one). Failing one puzzle or skipping one day resets your streak to 0.

Unlimited 9x9 Mode: Unlimited puzzles for no-pressure practice or just plain fun! Your scores are recorded if you have an account, but they don't count towards your streaks.

Practice with Unlimited 9x9 Mode

If you're new or recently coming back to the game, we recommend practicing via Unlimited Mode first before going to Daily Mode. Learn the color-feedback system and swap flow first.

Start strong

Begin with the word you feel most confident about. Form the word to lock in a few greens, and the rest will fall into place.

Efficiency is key

You've got limited swaps, so don't go swapping around without a plan! Every move counts—especially if you're chasing a perfect score.
